About/Synopsis: Verdant Birdie was an independent boutique plant shop venture that I launched with a friend and operated end-to-end, managing everything from brand identity to full-scale e-commerce operations.
The naming strategy relied on a rhythmic, syllabic balance—blending their personal nickname (“Birdie”) with botanical themes to create an approachable, organic feel. The identity leans intentionally feminine to cater to the primary audience, centered around a simple and memorable mark.
As the sole operator prior to 2020, my role spanned the entire lifecycle of the business: testing typography and color palettes with the target demographic, directing product photography, managing the e-commerce website, and personally handling horticulture, packaging, and fulfillment. The result was a cohesive, friendly brand experience built on a foundation of true grit and hands-on execution.
